Qalandiya, Ar-Ram Thurs. morning, 2.12..04Rama, Y. Aviva, W. Rutty, E. Ofra, B. (guest) Mili M. (reporting)6.30-8.30It was a quiet morning but the oppression of occupation was more pronounced that “usual”, see the description of the road and the specification of new regulation. Qalandiya: In response to a couple of suggestions we began this morning in Qalandiya and did not observe any particular problems. An additional position for a soldier was added (at the northern end of the north CP), but the traffic moved fluently. The road to Ar–Ram was horrendous, although there were no puddles the bumps on the road forces drivers to find their own routes and it is difficult to tell in which direction the cars go. I am at a loss of words to describe the sight and the feel of driving on this road. Nothing is left from what used to be a main road. Ar-Ram: We waited on the car line for about half an hour. In the meantime R. R. and O. stood at the CP. At thie time (it was already around 8 O’clock there was very little traffic). The commander A. reported that there were new instructions but refused to specify, but Shadi came and he volunteered that as of two weeks ago there are no regulations which allow merchants and farmers to pass (hardly relevant to Ar-Ram where most people are either teachers, doctors, employees or clients of services of our side of Jerusalem). Also new Tasrichs’s date is in effect (as of 29.11)– no tasrich that was issued before November 11 is valid any more.
