Bethlehem and Surroundings MOnday,Dec. 13.04 AM Ora. M., Mor B., Rachel R. (reporting). There is almost no traffic in either direction. No Women in Green. The “commander” of the post is hostile and asks us to not take pictures and to stand behind the barrier.El Hadr: No soldiers, traffic moves freely. A driver approaches and tells us that taxis have been waiting at Machsom Etzion for a very long time. Etzion CP: there are about 12 taxis waiting, all the passengers are standing around. The soldiers say the are checking i.ds., that the taxis have been there close to an hour. We phoned the Area Commander’s office and were told by a secretary (?) that it would be looked into. Then we phone Ilan, the second-in-command of the Area Commander—who does not want to be called on his cell phone—and he also said he would look into it. After a few minutes a lot of i.d.s were returned, and we left.Etzion DCO: there are fewer than 10 people at the windows and waiting. They say people have stopped coming because no authorizations have been given in so long. One man asks us to try to help him, he hasn’t worked in 6 months, he has been marked “Denied Entry” tho he has no police or police record. Ora spoke with Azhar, who said he would look into it.A quiet morning—however, it seems the quiet of helplessness, not of calm
