QalandiyaDecember 26 pmWatch: Ronny P. and 2 visitors- from Italy and EnglandWe approached the checkpoint thinking that it is still Christmas weekend and true enough the first people ,after we noticed two detaineesinfo-icon, was a group of nuns ,a woman and a very upset young man. They were upset because the young man had to return to Gaza before Erez closes and despite the fact that he had all the papers and permits, the security at the mysterious end of the computer has beeen "checking" for a long time. And a very unfriendly soldier was trying to keep the group of four elderly nuns and the mother and the son in a tidy group .The detainees reported that they have been detained for the last 2 hours.I spoke to the friendly commander and within minutes the detainees were gone and the young man could proceed on his way to Gaza. I felt very embarassed for being thanked because it was surely quite a coincidence. I allowed my guests to think so,too.Everyone we spoke to responded gladly to our questions about the elctions and everyone was sure they will get to where they are registered.Mustafa Barguti is not a favourite at Qalandiya. The wall is almost complete - evidence to the absurdity of it - no-one knows which is separated from which.
