Abu Dis, Container Friday, 24.12.2004 amObservers: Tamar A, Edna K, Barbara S. (reporting)HotelNo sign of BP in the hotel with its barbed wire "fortification" or outside of it, subsequently no detaineesinfo-icon.PishpashAcross the street from where the pishpash used to be, around the corner in an inconspicuous place, a blue police car stands waiting (for transit drivers ignoring the new blue-and-white markings which go all the way up the hill?).The pishpash remains walled off, but there is a steady trickle of people passing unhindered through the gate of the nearby monastery. Only few of them seem to hesitate due to the presence of the police car. No BP.ContainerSouthbound traffic passes smoothly, northbound traffic is held up slightly, each transit driver having to hand over the IDs of all passengers for inspection, but no one is sent back. In honour of Christmas, Christians are allowed to pass without permits. At a certain point, northbound traffic no longer is checked, so that not only transits but also large trucks pass without having been controlled.Back at the monastery, the police car is gone and people keep coming in unhindered.
