Huwwara south, Thursday, 13.1.2005 AMObservers: Nava A, Tal-Li B, (reporting) People are going around and not through the turnstiles, but there are two plastic barriers there intended to keep the line in order. The improvement is that they are placed diagonally and not straight so that the passage is wider. This may be due to my comment last week.Traffic flowing most of the time. When a bus arrives, there is more crowding and the soldiers usually then release people faster.8.00 – 8.30 – 3 detaineesinfo-icon who look very young. The soldiers “know” them, particularly the youngest. At approx. 10.00 the numbr of detainees increases. The father of a detained young man asks why he’s being detained although he has a permit. I ask the commander who says something may have happened since the permit was issued. I ask if he checks all permit-holders and he says he knows who to check. All the detainees are soon released. We drive to the DCO which is closed for renovation. The soldier there tells us to leave because it’s a closed military area! We left at 10.30. On the way back, about 20 cars at Zaatra junction towards the south.
