Wadi Nar Sunday, January 30th 2005 pmWatchers: Tzipie E. and Ronny P. We went to Wadi Nar with great apprehension fearing to meet the same DCO rep. as last week.We were lucky and met the man we have met a number of times before and who is not an aggressive person to start with.Immediately there was a feeling that things are moving easily and also the officer spoke to the few detaineesinfo-icon who were released very soon after their papers wee taken. The random check of the taxis presented problems for travellers with Israeli IDs and so they had to find another solution. We met 2 girl soldiers who are new at Wadi Nar and we hope to get to know them better. They genuinely cannot believe we are not petrified and stiff with fear whenever we get there. We spoke to the owner of the newly opened restaurant/cafe and he also commented on calm days these days. On the other hand rules are strictly adhered to and so people from the homes right next to the container were not allowed to bring in a taxi with all their purchases of UNRA flower bags etc. They had to load it on a donkey who was donig the trip a number of times. All this is extra care for inhabitants of Kedar! We will see whether we can help there next time.
