Ar-Ram, Qalandiya 14.02.05 p.m.Observers: Chana B. Noa E. (reporting)Near Ar-Ram, there was a long line of cars heading toward Qalandiya awaiting police inspection. At the checkpoint, there were 20 detaineesinfo-icon who were there illegally. They came to the checkpoint hoping that they would be able to cross with the "easements" that come with the sounds of peace. Everyone's bags were opened. At the checkpoint itself, there were few people and cars.At Qalandiya, a survey was being done by the soldiers whereby they checked all documents, how many people were crossing, how many women and how many men in preparations for the new terminal. At the checkpoint itself, there were changes. Iron doors blocked off a sterileinfo-icon army area. As a result, half of the humanitarian lane had been cut off and those who use it have been sent to the right turnstile. Only two lanes functioned. Work has been done to make a roof over the third lane. Bulldozers are working along the length of the separation barrier between the checkpoint and the areas south east in order to straighten out the area for the erection of the continuation of the wall. When we returned to Ar-Ram, there were 5 detainees, among them a grandfather with his grandson who has problems with his eyes. They told us they were waiting for an hour. We contacted the office of the Jerusalem enclosure in order to speed up their release and we left after they were let go.
