Bethlehem and Environs Observers: G. Kelner, D. Ginat, O Ardon (reporting)On our way to the Etzion D.C.O. we did not see any checkposts. Traffic ran smoothly through the the tunnels There was no army presence in El Khadr . At the Etzion DCO we met a few desolate men. One of them told us that he was waiting since 8 oclock in the morning. Had nothing to eat or drink. We got in touch with one of the soldiers and asked him some questions. After a few minutes his name was called. When we left, at about 4 oclock, he was still there.Beit Jala: As we parked at the entrance to the town a Palestinian asked us to go to the CP, as there was some problem there. We found a car with young people there. One of them was detained and his ID was taken. They said that they have been waiting for 2 hours for the ID. The soldier who took the ID claimed that he was waiting for orders from the Shabak. We asked him to call them. Apparently he did it, because after a short while the ID was returned and the group thanked us and drove away. An elderly man who stood near our car, greeted us (in excellent Hebrew) said he knew what we are doing because he reads our reports. CP 300: was functioning in a quiet and orderly fashion. There were no detaineesinfo-icon.
