Morning

Turah - Shaked 7:20 – 8:00

When we arrived there was a line of about 30 people waiting on the West Bank side, and no one had yet passed. Loud shouting could be heard. A few minutes later they began passing quickly, and within 20 minutes everyone passed. According to people departing from the checkpoint, it opened only at 07:10, and then there were problems with the computer. People were upset and the soldiers were shouting. In addition, we were told that these delays have been reoccurring for several days, and that on one day they began passing only at eight.

Barta’a - Reihan 8:10 – 8:50

Here too it’s busy, but the passage is continuous and rapid. We timed about seven minutes per passage per person. In front of the coffee kiosk (closed Saturdays) a terrace sprouted, with a table, chairs, and flowering rose bushes on both sides - a bitter irony. We met H. who has now got a permit with Tammy Shelf’s help. Thank you so much! In the parking lot, we met Mary and her father Amjad, waiting for a ride to physiotherapy in Umm al-Fahm. Mary will have surgery at Sheba Hospital in the coming days.
