Afternoon
In contrast to  recent reports today was calm taking into consideration the occupation and the checkpoint. Of course to see the men coming out with their belts in their hands is humiliating for them and for us.

15.20 Beit Iba. At the pedestrian checkpoint we are greeted by a delegation of the DCO and police. Besides a
sergeant there is a captain of the DCO and also Raad of the blue police. They say that because of a lack of manpower during the holidays they are making a tour of all the checkpoints to see how things are being handled.

Few pedestrians and cars. In the humanitarian line there is a larger number of people but checking is quick  and there are no delays. Reservists are on duty. The line of the young men is shorter. As always they come out with their belts in their hands and humiliated faces. A young man says to us, "Good evening." He points to his belt. No words. But the motion is sufficient. Look and see how I have been humiliated, how I have no control over my life.

16.10 The crossroads of Jit are completely open. Next to the pink house there are settlers, 5 boys with large white skull caps are enjoying themselves with a donkey. It would be interesting to know if the donkey had been taken from the Palestinians as was the house.
