Hebron, Sansana (Meitar Crossing), South Hebron Hills
The tour was conducted under the capable guidance of Muhammad.
9:30 The checkpoint of Meitar and the parking lot of the Palestinians is very crowded.
On route 60 we see the expansion of Teneh Omrim. The view is magnificent.
As a new observer I am learning the codes of the signs along the way.
“Legitimate ” settlements have a sign in three languages while illegal settlements have only signs in Hebrew such as that at Estamoah. A Palestinian villages such as Simiah does not have any sigh whatsoever. On the sign for Otniel the words in Arabic have been wiped out. Hebron itself, area H2, the sign is only in Hebrew and English. There are no Arabs in the area!
Along the road all the entrances to the Palestinian villages are open except at the village of Abda where both entrances have been closed for a long time. We hardly see any army presence along the road. In Hebron itself the restaurant of Ofer of the House of Contention is full. An alien landing in Hebron would think that he had come to the garden of Eden. All is green , the almond trees are in bloom in all their glory, the sheep are grazing in the meadow and under the Gal hill a man is plowing his land with a mule and a hand plough. As in the days of our father, Abraham. I hope he will enjoy the fruit of his labout.
