'Anabta, Ar-Ras, Jubara (Kafriat), Thu 24.4.08, Afternoon
Thomas, Marcus ,a documentary group from Germany accompanied us.
14.40 Jubara.
Gadi, the commander, opens the gate and does not seem
happy about it. Says he does not know us and asks for IDs and passports
of our guest. He gives us his phone number so that we can phone when we
come back. At the children's gate everyone entering Jubara is written
up by the soldiers besides the permits being checked.
14.50
At Ar-Ras where it is very hot the soldier at the post has his rifle
trained on the crossroads. Traffic passes slowly and IDs and the
baggage compartment is checked. A wait of 5-10 minutes. The pedestrians
are checked by the second lieutenant. At Anabta there is no queue.
Soldiers looking wilted from the sun motion to the traffic to come
forward and pass. Our visitors who are used to the checkpoint film
everything.
