Morning

Beit Iba.

8.35 Exiting Nablus the traffic is very light.  All move quickly without
unnecessary delays.  In the direction from Beit Iba towards Nablus,
there are a considerable a number of people who all pass through the
humanitarian gate without delays.  The soldiers at the checkpoint
behave reasonably – but a checkpoint is a checkpoint and, as in a
checkpoint, some people have to come out of the carousels retying their
shoelaces, fastening belts, tucking shirts into trousers… No cars
are detained.

Anabta.
8.40  When
we arrived there was a line of cars in the Tulkarm direction and 14
exiting Tulkarm.  These lines grew either longer or shorter according
to the ability of the soldiers to cope:  now a group of officers
arrives to examine the checkpoint; or a soldier needs to change a too-warm
garment, etc.  All in all, there is no ‘nastiness’ and it is
clear that the soldiers want a ‘good checkpoint.’

From a conversation with
the commander we understand that there are many incidents that he has
learned of them through us.  He said that he doesn’t have enough
information about 101, Bak’a al-Garbia and Bak’a a-Sharkia.
Nava Mozes will have his telephone number.

9.00 Still in Anabta.
Now the line entering Tulkarm has 15 cars, but waiting time is 2-3 minutes.

9.45 Azzun is open.
