Sha'b al Butum - 70 dunams have been eaten by the sheep of the settlers
We went again to Sha'b al Butum to find out how they are doing and also to photograph the children to whom Galia Oz spoke and the child whom she chose for her article.
The father of the family, Ishak Jabarin, told us that about 70 dunams of wheat and barley had been eaten by the sheep of the Mitzpe Yair settlers. Fortunately, he has enough from other areas to feed both man and beast.
Now they are harvesting (by hand, by the way) in plots far from the settlements, so it is relatively quiet for them. But he knows that when they get closer, conflicts are to be expected.
At At-Tuwani Nasser Adara tells us that they are continuing their struggle to pave the road.
On Friday they wanted to hold a demonstration, but cancelled because of the weather.
But they worked for about two hours until they were stopped again by a man named Saleh from the DCO. According to him they need to get permission from the Palestinian Authority and then they will be able to develop the whole road.
Nasser stopped the work and contacted the PA and will wait a week or two. Then, if nothing happens they will return to work on the remaining 1.5 km.
