הכניסה לכראמה

After hearing about the Shabbat events in Karame, we went there to try to see and understand what was happening.

Karama is a Palestinian village on a hill overlooking the Otniel settlement located on a hill opposite. There is a plot which the settlers took over and where they are preparing to build a park. I spoke on the phone with Guy from Ta’ayush and with our friend Nasser from Susiya and both said that two Ta'ayush activists were attacked there by settlers from Otniel with violence and beaten for coming to see the area in question. We need to continue to monitor this area which is also being taken over by settlers.

We drove from there to the Dura-Al -Fawwar intersection. Due to the lack of time, we did not go to Hebron, but I spoke with Idris about the olive trees which were partially burned. Idris, who is recovering from a serious illness, was in the field and with him an officer and soldiers (Nahal). He says that during the four days, from Thursday to Sunday, an unknown hand was constantly lighting fires there and the soldiers are busy trying to extinguish the fires. He doesn't know how to say for sure that it was the actions of the settlers, he also suspects his neighbours...

I also spoke with the officer. It was important for him to emphasize that they guard the trees and work to prevent fires.

Idris praised the soldiers very much... next week I will go to visit him.

Impressive development works are being done at the Al-Fawwar intersection. At the grocery store, they say that the soldiers constantly make surprise roadblocks there at various times.

This time the posts were not manned. Even the one overlooking the nearby spring and Route 60 was empty.
