Afternoon

We cannot and should not get used to the sight of working children.

We cannot and should not get used to the reality where at the end of  day a child is obliged to return home with a bundle of shekels so that the family members do not go to bed hungry.

We cannot and mustn’t  get used to the fact that children go to work in the morning and not to school,

  • "How will the school help him for his future?"  one of the fathers told me - "If he's lucky, when he grows up, he'll work building a settlement. Isn't it a waste of time and money?"

Such is the one child who stood while risking his life from being hit by the soldiers' rifles at the entrance of the vehicle checkpoint and such were five boys and one girl who stood at the entrance of the pedestrian checkpoint.

And such are the same working children who coaxed those passing through the checkpoint to buy bottles of cold water.

Of this and all the rest will be told in the annals of time.
