Demolitions in the Kasbah of Hebron

Residents say that at night a bulldozer came and destroyed four shops in the Kasbah. They don't understand why, and for what purpose.

The Kasbah of Hebron is located behind the Avraham Avino (Abraham our Father) neighbourhood and Beit Romano, in the area of H2 which is the area under Israeli control, and where the Jewish neighbourhoods are located in the heart of Hebron. Israelis do not have free entry to the Kasbah area, but there are occasional trips by settlers to the Kasbah, accompanied and guarded by the army. The living conditions of the remaining Palestinian residents are difficult, because of the restrictions imposed on them, and harassment from the settlers of the adjacent Jewish neighbourhoods. Attached are photos taken by Imad Abu Shamsiya, who lives on the way to Tel Rumeida - a photo from a distance.

Many soldiers are posted near Beit Hadassah and Tel Rumeida. The residents complain that the behaviour of some of the soldiers borders on disrespect for the passers-by who live there.

Residents of Tel Rumeida are sometimes required to show ID even when crossing the road to the grocery store.

Bassem, who lives on Zion Avenue, in front of Beit HaShalom, reports that the settlers are making noise, harassing the Palestinians day and night. Why? - because they can.
