Morning
ואדי רדים - אצל אבו סאפי

The shift took place the day after the murder of the woman from Beit Hagai, at the Sheep Junction.

Highway 60 is mostly closed. Also, the entrances to Hebron. A breathing siege is what they call what they did to Hebron and the surroundings.

Interesting, what is the name of a siege that does not breathe.

In addition, Abu Safi desperately asked the night before that we come because the settler Israel Kaplan is harassing them greatly.

On Sunday, Smadar and Muhammad came to visit him and he asked for volunteers to come and accompany his family members, especially 15-year-old Ranin, when they are tending the sheep, or when the little girls are walking to the main road on their way to school. As Smadar wrote they turned to Bassel Adra who appealed to Nasser Nawaj’a's brother, Abed, in the hope that he would find a way to help him in dealing with the settlers.

We decided it was important to visit them again.

What's more, we could reach Wadi Radim even though it was very tense.

Happily, when we arrived, there were two volunteers from the EAPPI with Abed Nawaj’a. Indeed, they came to see and hear how they could help. They said that they would consult with each other and build a programme to escort the family.

During our stay at Abu Safi's, we twice saw the settler's ATV arrive as it does every day just to harass and frighten the Palestinians, restrict their steps and make life miserable.

Apparently, our car deterred him because he saw us, he immediately left. Again, Abu Safi tells how they went with their flock on his barley fields and the sheep of the settler has eaten everything. His financial situation has become very bad because of these events and also because his health condition deteriorated and he has a severe heart disease and is barely functioning. He needs to undergo heart surgery and doesn't know how to finance it.

Again and again, he says that not only was he born here and he is 76 years old, so are his father and grandfather and he has paperwork from the Turkish times that proves his ownership of these lands for generations.

He lived quietly for all his life but the last two years have been unbearable.
