Morning

A cold day. The car is our office. As we arrived, we saw a woman waiting with many bags. Turned out she needed a taxi but could not find one but a couple gave her a lift.

Many people waiting for the GSS.

Also a man, a woman and a little girl from Beit Safafa were brought over to us.  As soon as I approached them, he asked if I were Sylvia. She had helped him in the past. Their son is an invalid and lives with them but his wife lives in the Occupied Areas and they wanted a permit for her for six months. We told them that there was  not much hope of this , maybe for 3 months they would get. The father also said that they were involved with the Ministry of the Interior so it could be that they are trying for family reunion.

Another business man arrived with the same story as a man from last week who also showed us the same card.  He is a trader and had suddenly been refused entrance into Israel and has received a summons to go to the GSS. He asked us why this should  be so. We have our own ideas. He told us he was a member of Roots (https://www.friendsofroots.net) and asked if he should tell the soldiers this so we said it could hurt. But as most of the soldiers probably have  no idea what Roots is about it is doubtful.

I include the following about a reporter,  Muath Amarneh

This is the link to the events of 2019 when he, a photographer was shot by the IDF which of course denied any culpability. The Palestinian Authority paid for his operation but since then he has had to meet the costs at his own expense. We forgot to ask him how he makes a living now.

His problem is that he has to enter Israel for a checkup on the plastic eye. Also note that a bullet is too close to his brain for an operation. But he is now considered a security risk. He made an application to enter Israel about two weeks ago to which he did not receive a reply. The only advice we could give him was to make a new appointment and immediately to make an application for entry and at the same time to phone either Hanna Barag or Sylvia to help him get a reply. We did sms Asaf who did not reply nor did he answer his phone.
