Morning
9:40   We entered the Palestinian territories through the Shomron Gate. All was quite usual.
Za'atra (Tapuach Junction) The police were there. They had stopped a Palestinian car and seemed to be giving the driver a traffic ticket. Nadim said that the usual traffic offense fines were about 1,000 shekels!
There were 2 soldiers on the road coming from Nablus. A car they had stopped was being searched.
Huwwara checkpoint was quiet; no soldiers were to be seen and the traffic in and out of Nablus was flowing.
Beit Furiq checkpoint was empty, as usual.
The valley on the road to Beit Dajan is now completely brown. All the grain has been harvested and herds of sheep and goats were grazing on the stubble. Nadim spoke with a taxi driver who passed who said that there have been no problems in the area lately.
In the center of Huwarra a military jeep was parked and 2 soldiers stood nearby, but we saw no sign of activity.
At the turn to the road to Jit there was another military vehicle, standing quietly. There were no soldiers at the Jit junction.  The entrance to Azzoun was open and all was quiet.
11:25   We left by the Eliyahu Gate. The woman guard asked us where we were coming from and Nadim said Qaddum. She waved us through. That's as good an answer as any other.
