We have no idea why there was only one man in the waiting room today. He had been given an appointment to come in at 12 for a magnetic card. The hall was in darkness and no one at the window. We can only hope he did not wait in vain. We did not ask if we could phone afterwards to find out if he was successful. Often when we do we meet with a negative answer. Which is not surprising with the atmosphere of fear and suspicion which surrounds them. An atmosphere which seems to be spreading towards us.
