A question for the army: where are the bodies of 2 Palestinians who disappeared two years ago?
When we arrived at the Etzion DCO, we met 2 people in the waiting hall. One of them wanted an answer as to when the body of his son, who was killed by the army two years ago, would be returned. According to the military, his son entered the settlement illegally. He has not received any further details to this day.
Last week, two other people tried to find out when they would receive the bodies of their family members, who were also killed by the army. Are the bodies being held for bargaining purposes to return the bodies of Israeli soldiers or civilians if necessary? See B’Tselem’s publication on a similar matter:
Outside the waiting room, we met a man who was waiting for his brother, who had been summoned for interrogation by the Shin Bet. The brother, who was called in for interrogation by the Shin Bet, spent four years in prison and was released a month ago. Wasn’t there enough time for interrogations during his time in prison? This is a practice we have encountered many times, people are released from prison and are often summoned the next day or within a short time for interrogation by the Shin Bet. The other guy sitting outside was the driver of the two. He, too, had previously been in an Israeli prison for two years for throwing stones when he was 20. Since then, his ban has been lifted, and he has worked for many years in Israel. He is not prevented by the Shin Bet, but of course he has not been able to work in the State of Israel since the war. Every time we wonder how people are still eating something, when such a large number of people who used to work in Israel haven’t worked for a year.
