Abu DisTuesday afternoon, 4 Jan. 2005JW and RDH ( reporting )Pishpash [pedestrian roadside crossing]:Red and white traffic markings along both sides of road. Road directly opposite the concrete emplacement is blocked by a barrier of stones and boulders. Transits [multipassenger taxi-vans] to Jerusalem are waiting on opposite side of barrier .Monastery Gate: Open to pedestrians. No Border Police presence. Nuns continue to complain that pedestrians damage property and that some thefts have occurred .Road to the hotel impassable due to bulldozer .Wadi Nar ( “Container” ): Road open all the way . Some new housing construction in Jahalin ‘ shanty town ‘. 12-14 Border Police at the checkpoint . Traffic moving efficiently in both directions and almost no pedestrian movement ( weather related ? )
