Afternoon
We went to the checkpoint between Taibe and Tulkarm. The checkpoint, when we arrived at around 12:45 was very quiet – full closure since last night in the area. Very few pedestrians crossing from the north, hardly any from the south. Guys with carts carried people’s goods across from the taxis on the north side to the south side.People with blue IDs only. Permits for this area are distributed at Tulkarm Matak military base. The Taibe checkpoint has a northern and southern end. There’s also a road leading east from the checkpoint’southern end to Enav, Avney Hefetz, and on a hill very near-by, a village called Farun, which is almost a suburb of Tulkarm. This road evetually leads to the Deir Sharef checkpoint. We then drove to see the Tulkarm checkpoint in Tulkarm and found that it does not function as such, but is rather an entrance for Israelis to the the military base which gives permits. The entrance for Palestinians is through Tulkarm side of the base.
