Afternoon
There was a tremendous traffic jam in East Jerusalem – post election? And zero presence of Army or border policemen at Abu Dis. The fallen off block is now vertically obstructing so a car can get by.A group of border policemen next to the gas station and roundabout before the checkpoint. They were stopping all transits and buses and “fly passengers out” as one of the policemen put it.It was cold and women mostly had to stand and wait for their blue id. cards to be checked-painfully slowly and a group of guys with green and orange cards lined up standing, waiting. We gave some of them the moked card. After about 40 minutes we decided to call Safadi who told the soldiers it isn’t “legal” to hold up people when all is OK. Nothing was moving much for another 15 minutes so we called Safadi back and the Moked. And then, suddenly, people were let to go. There was a detained bus driver whose insurance papers were not OK.
