Abu Dis 12/3/04Michal Z. Rita m. Yehudit E. Avital B. -wrote and a guest from over seas. A change in command: instead of Yehuda, the commander of border police Abu Dis is Mike.9:15 No border police at the Pishpesh 10:00 In Sawahra the passage is open. The soldiers were checking the ID’s of those traveling to Jerusalem, it caused traffic problem on both sides of the check point. The Driver that took us told us that the soldiers put on laud music and sirens at night, to disturb the neighbors. During our shift we saw the soldiers yell through the laud speaker and use the siren, for no reason, but a show of power.11:00 We returned to the Pishpesh, and a border police jeep was there. The soldier that was checking ID’s had a tear gas grenade and a shock grenade in his hand, while talking to people. We asked another soldier why and were told it was to intimidate people. We claimed that the grenades caused an unnecessary tension and the soldier holding them , put them away. The soldiers announced that there was a closure and only blue [Israel’s] ID holders could pass (before there was no closure)We called yehuda (who was replaced by Mike), after a few minutes he said there was a closure. Azhar from the Etzion DCO confirmed this.We drove to El Faj. there is a beginning of a fence building there.
