Everybody is checked with hand-metal detector. Citizens of Ramallah area pass freely; men aged 16 to 35 from other places need, according to the usual rules, permits in order to pass. Checking is quick and efficient both for pedestrians and vehicles. We are informed that youngsters usually throw stones around 4 pm near the new wall and soldiers react by shooting. Ar-Ram, 9:30-10:15. Many border police soldiers with a constant presence of blue police harass people passing through the checkpoint as well as people around. Checking of pedestrians is very slow on purpose. We waited 30 min to pass. All passengers in vehicles are asked to go out and than their IDs are checked, so the passage of cars is extremely slow. Blue police gives tickets for nothing. Our IDs were also checked by blue police through their computer. The behavior of all security forces is pointed to humiliate and to display power. It seems that the feeling of power of policemen and soldiers has no limits. We will call tomorrow the border police spokesperson.
