Wadi Nar-Container, Abu DisTuesday, 10.8.04, MorningWatchers: Michaela R., Ora K., Yael J.L., Hana A., Judith S.(Reporting)06:40 Wadi Naar-Container: 3 BP.60-70 Palestinians waiting to pass to Sawahre – Jerusalem direction. 1 BP checks very slowly each one, asking to show his I.D already from afar. Does not ask for permits (Tasrichs). After a short while checking becomes randomal, from time to time checking bags. 1 BP soldier signals vehicles to pass both directions. Few taxis are stopped, checking takes no more than 15 minutes. Pedestrians passed more rapidly than cars.07:50. Al Ezariyah CP: We qeued along the line of various cars, to find out how long does it take to cross the CP. There were about 10 vehicles (of different kinds). It took us 16 minutes to cross the CP.08:30 Pishpash gate: Lots of transits at the junction. A jeep parks in front of two concrete blocks, dirty with oil (as is the fence surrounding the corner house). Driver sits in jeep, 2 BP stand on the pavement, their tags folded. Palestinians climb the wall (at its side) both directions. Those who go to the west side of the wall are being checked – some easily, others less – but none is detained or sent back. 4 Italians on their way to Betaniya approach the fence to climb it. What an experience! One of the Palestinians told us that this 3 BP are usually standing at the Ma’ale-Adomim CP, and only once a week at the Pishpash, and they are good, not like brutal Gili.09:00 Cliff Hotel: Quiet. We saw one soldier sitting inside first floor. We stayed in the area of the Hotel for 30 minutes, but we saw no palestinians walking.09:30 we ended our shift.
