Tarqumiya 8/2/2004 Watcher: Nomi S. Everything went smoothly. I got to Tarqumiya around 6 AM, and nobody paid attention to me. I wasn’t even asked to show my ID. I walked over to the usual place and observed only a few transits with workers arrive during the next hour (no more than 30 workers all told). The agriculture workers were let through quickly, but not the builders or the businessman who tried to pass. I was told that everyone, including builders, can get in via Jerusalem (the CP near Bethlehem), but that for the particular builder in question, that was too much of a detour. Also he complained of the money for the work permit that was going to waste and the fact that there was no food at home. I left around 7 AM. No workers had arrived for 15 minutes and I figured that there wouldn’t be any more. When I drove off I saw that the last 10 or so agriculture workers were still waiting to be picked up.I asked the soldiers when the workers start coming through. He said around 5 AM. I’m wondering whether it would be possible to try to get there half an hour earlier in the morning.
