‘Anabta, Ar-Ras, Qalqiliya, Mon 17.3.08, Morning
6.35 Eliyahu crossing.
About 50 workers waiting in the field on the other side of the fence on the road next to the checkpoint. Every 50 seconds a worker comes through, lifting his coat and waits for his papers to be checked.
6.40 Qalqiliya.
No lines and very quiet. Hardly any checking maybe just a question. Sometimes cars are carefully checked including the baggage compartment and the motor especially at the entrance. At Azzun the main entrance is blocked. No army presence.
9.25 Anabta.
No lines and little checking. Here and at Ar-Ras we meet soldiers painting the cement blocks in glowing paint. At Ar-Ras at 10.00 the soldiers do not check for about two minutes as if they do not really want to check and do so lazily. 8 cars wait. They ask each driver many questions such as where he is from, where he is going and if he studies at the university what he is studying. When we leave there are two cars and we hope it will stay that way.

The checkpoint is located south of the village of 'Anabta, at the intersection of Road 60 (leading to Nablus at the entrance to Area A), with Road (57, 557, 5576) facing west towards the Einav settlement and the checkpoint at the exit from the West Bank - Figs checkpoint. Until 2010 we used to watch the intersection and report the long columns created due to a slow inspection of the vehicles in both directions.

Qalqiliya checkpoint
See all reports for this place-
Qalqilya is surrounded on all sides by the separation barrier. The only exit from the city is in the east of the city on the road that leaves the city in an easterly direction. This is where the checkpoint was located. When the checkpoint was active until 2009 our shifts watched long queues of cars being inspected at the only exit from the city to the West Bank. The checkpoint was canceled, but there is a military presence at the entrance to the city.
