General: There are
drastic changes in the structure of the checkpoints.

14:20:
Jubara

We found the gate locked
as usual.  On the side of the village are concrete barriers, and
on the other side there is a steel arm with a guard station next to
it.

We approached the soldiers
at the Te’enim crossing.  They explained to us that soon the
entry for residents will be from this gate.  The children’s gate
will become an agricultural gate only.  The Adam Checkpoint no
longer exists.  Meanwhile villagers will come from the main road.
Perhaps in the future the northern gate will be opened as it was more
than three years ago.

We have no permit to
cross to the village.  We decided not to argue with them.
We went up to the hill overlooking Tul Karem and did not see any other
checkpoint from there.

14:40:
Anabta

Tractors are working
energetically at widening the checkpoint.  We asked a soldier what
they are doing here.  He doesn’t know.  He is just a “cog
in the machine.”  Cars pass in both directions to and from Tul
Karem and are hardly checked at all. Cars with yellow license plates
also enter the city.  Occasionally a car is stopped for questioning
and even checked.

15:10: The shift changes.
The new soldiers arrive in a cheerful mood singing a Purim song.
They deliberately hang up the blue and white sign opposite us.
We ignore it.  Meanwhile a line of 20 cars has formed at the entrance
to the city.

15:20: The soldiers are
chatting with the drivers and therefore the line does not get any shorter.

We left for Beit Iba.

17:40: Qalqilya

Cars are passing in and
out of the city without delay.  We asked the taxi drivers why.
They said that it could be because there are no workers due to the closure.
One taxi driver tells us that an hour ago a civilian car was standing
and checking cars (instead of the soldiers at the checkpoint).
There was a long line that extended as far as the intersection.

The checkpoint is located south of the village of 'Anabta, at the intersection of Road 60 (leading to Nablus at the entrance to Area A), with Road (57, 557, 5576) facing west towards the Einav settlement and the checkpoint at the exit from the West Bank - Figs checkpoint. Until 2010 we used to watch the intersection and report the long columns created due to a slow inspection of the vehicles in both directions.

    •   The Jabra checkpoint was on Road 557, south of Tulkarm, on the side of the Figs Pass, which is located within the Palestinian Authority (a few kilometers east of the Green Line), and serves as an entry barrier from the territories to Israel. The checkpoint to the village of Jubara, which until 2013 was in the seam area, blocked and surrounded by a fence, was intended for the passage of the family members of the house next to the checkpoint, and also for the MachsomWatch volunteers (with special permission only), on their way to checkpoint 753. on the other side of the village. The soldiers supervising the "fig crossing" also supervised the crossing at this checkpoint, in our shifts we often waited a long time until the key was found and the gate opened. The checkpoint was abolished and became part of the separation fence that was moved west following the High Court.

    • Qalqilya is surrounded on all sides by the separation barrier. The only exit from the city is in the east of the city on the road that leaves the city in an easterly direction. This is where the checkpoint was located. When the checkpoint was active until 2009 our shifts watched long queues of cars being inspected at the only exit from the city to the West Bank. The checkpoint was canceled, but there is a military presence at the entrance to the city.
