Anata, Ar-Ram, Thursday, 12/8/2004, AMObservers: Ruth E., Rama Y. (reporting), a guestA day after the explosion in Qalandiya. Atmosphere washeavy and tense. The soldiers were hostile, thePalestinians very frustrated and angry. The trafficjams were horrible everywhere. We didn’t make it toQalandiya.Anata. While pedestrians advanced somehow, vehiclesformed a long line, and the soldiers (BP) didn’tattend to it, or almost not. Occasionally, they’dsignal to a car to come forward, and after a verysuperficial checking of documents would let it go on,to be immediately stuck in an impossible jam in thenearby crossroads, where there was another CP mannedby blue police.Ar-Ram. Movement of pedestrians and vehicles wasblocked altogether since the previous evening, exceptfor “special humanitarians cases”. Though it was clearthat no one would be let through, about fiftyPalestinians, men and women, stood around in somevague hope that maybe orders would be changed. We madeseveral calls, knowing in advance that there wasnothing really that could be done for them — theyall should be given a lesson. It took us about an hour to get back to Jerusalem.
