ANATA, Ar-RAM, QALANDIYA
Qalandiya and surroundings, Sunday 12.03.06 AMObservers; Yehudit E, Dahlia K (reporting)6:45 Anata: We entered Anata from round about. We reached the checkpoint from the inner side. The traffic flowed without special problems. The wait for cars at the checkpoint was 10 minutes on average.7:15 Ar Ram: There were a lot of border policemen including high ranking officers — a group on some special mission. Perhaps this was connected to the Purim closure that was felt here. The passage of pedestrians was only for those holding blue i.d.’s. Those with other i.d.’s — even if they had permits was not allowed, aside from humanitarian cases. Doctors, nurses and the sick could pass. The wait at the checkpoint was 15 minutes.7:45 We went to the side road to the west of the Ar Ram checkpoint. We saw border police patrols and about 30 detainees. It is not clear how much time they were held but while we were still there, some of them were released. 9:30 Ar Ram checkpoint: An unusual sight. For a few minutes, there was not one car at the checkpoint. As was said, there was speedy passage of cars to Jerusalem.
