Aqrba: F.'s home and family are a constant target of settlers attacks
Around 1 p.m. we drove off. On the road to Bruqin and Marda villages, the gates were closed. The road to Yatma was open.
We reached Duma to give clothes to needy Bedouins, from the communities that escaped the Jordan Valley and are situated on the eastern outskirts of Duma. The residents told us that settlers regularly harass them. Rabbi Arik Asherman and a group of volunteers are present and carry out Protective Presence in order to prevent the settlers from coming and harassing them.
On our way to Yanun we visited the home of F’. His is the last and isolated house north of Aqraba, thus regularly attacked by settlers.
On Monday, January 5th, settlers on ATVs came to the house. They grabbed F’s two sons, blindfolded and shackled them, beat them up and stole their cell phones, which according to the sons were new and expensive. Then they climbed up and broke everything they saw, entered the living room and ruined the sofas. F’ took the ruined sofas out of the house. In the photo you can see part of the damage – a destroyed easy chair.
We continued to Yanun. The locality is entered only through Aqraba. In the past, Yanun Al-Fuka was inhabited by six families. Not a single one remains now. We met residents at Yanun Al-Tahta (Lower Yanun). One of them said that colonists accompanied by soldiers chased the residents of Yanun al Fuka (Upper Yanun) away and settled in their houses instead. Then a gate was installed at the entrance, blocking the way to the land and to Yanun al Fuka.
At Awarta checkpoint on the road leading to Nablus, a traffic jam formed in both directions because of the lengthy inspections.
On the road from Beit Furik to Nablus there were no soldiers seen at the checkpoint, so no traffic jam or long waiting lines.
We reached Huwara at 4:45 p.m., after visiting our friend Doha in Burin. An army jeep stood at the middle of the main road, the soldiers beside it.
Location Description
'Awarta
See all reports for this place-
Awarta, an internal checkpoint in the heart of the West Bank, is located east of the Hawara checkpoint, at the junction of Roads 555 (which was forbidden for Palestinian traffic in this area) and the entrance road to Nablus. It was one of the four checkpoints that surrounded Nablus until 2009. We used to watch it at Huwwara shifts because it was the only one where goods could be transferred to and from Nablus, using the back-to-back method. It was operated by the army, from 06:00 to 20:00. Until 2009.

Marda
There are about 2500 inhabitants in the village. A large part of their lands was confiscated for the benefit of the settlement of Ariel, some of whose buildings are adjacent to the village.
They often feel under siege. At both entrances to the village from the main road (505) there are checkpoints and the army does close the yellow arms from time to time. The inhabitants of Marda own olive groves behind a fence. Rarely are they allowed to cultivate their agricultural plots
