Ar-Ram and Qalandiya
Ar-Ram and Qalandiya – Wednesday 24.05.06 PMObservers: Tami B. Ivonne M. and Ruthy B. (reporting), Translation: Netta S.Our intentions were to dedicate the afternoon on learning the route of the wall in Ar-Ram and Anata’s area and to get to Atara checkpoint, but our plans were disrupted. We drove through Pisgat Ze’ev and we looked at the wall which “softly wraps” Anata. According to the maps and as far as we managed to understand there will be only one opening towards Jerusalem. We continued to Hizma, a vehicle checkpoint was built there, just like in Qalandiya: 2 or 3 check lanes. And again, according to B’Tselem’s map, the wall will go through the old road towards Ma’ale Edomim. This will probably be the road for natives only. Hizma will be “wrapped” from 3 sides with opening towards east. When you drive to Qalandiya you can see the wall which closes Ar-Ram. At 17:00 PM we met in Qalandiya 17 Christian women that came from Sweden for a tour. They gave us 500 shekels donation.Due to personal reasons we couldn’t continue as planned.
