Road 60, DCO Ezion to Nebi Yunis, 13.3.2006, Monday morningObservers: Chaya A. Ada G. (reporting)Natanya translating.7.15 Beit Jalla: The traffic is passing normally.7.30 El Khadr: Much traffic and paperwork.8.30 Checkpoint Ezyon: A blue police jeep and soldiers and a long line waiting to pass from south to north. No detainees.8.40 Beit Ummar: Everything as usual. Much paperwork. People are in despair. A frightened man claims that he was hurt badly by the soldiers a long time ago. We told him t contact Betsalem and hope that he will complain. 10.30 DCO Ezyon is still closed. It is only working partly and rumour is rife as to when it will open again and that magnetic cards are given to whoever asks for one. we met a Palestinian from ElAida camp whose id was taken from him in a night visit from soldiers to his home and he cannot get it back. We try to help him . It costs 3000 shekel and much time for all the procedures.Besides all this. We ask for a volunteer who will help with the paper work with the police so as to close files for people. It only needs a telephone and a fax machine . It would not take much time and would help these people very much. People who do not go out on shifts could also help and if there is such a person please contact 6734175 02

The Gush Etzion-Hebron road - which is the main axis of  the southern Hebron Mountains - passes through the boundaries of the village. Many incidents of stone throwing occurred on this section of road. There is a checkpoint at the entrance to the village.

In March 2006, a 25-dunam land seizure order was issued around the settlement for the purpose of establishing a "special security area" (SHBM) and a warning fence around the nearby settlement, Carmei Tzur. In April 2019, 401 dunams of the land of the villages of Beit Omer and Halhul were expropriated for the purpose of paving a road that bypasses the house of Omer to the east.  Demonstrations are held by the villagers against the seizure of land with the participation of Palestinian, Israeli and international activists.
