(reporting)Tunnel CP: 15:00: A very long line of cars Jerusalem bound, the queue reaching Al Kahder intersection.Etzion CP: 15:25: Two transits have been signaled to the side lane and are being checked.Etzion DCL: 15:30: The parking lot is full, the shed empty, but in front of the turnstile about 10 people who claim to have been waiting for 15 minutes. 15 more minutes go by, during which we leave Eyal a message, and in the meanwhile more people come. When the turnstile is finally operated, about 15 people are let in all at once, leaving around 7 more still outside. Most of the people are there for permits on humanitarian grounds. 2 young men and a young woman are there for magnetic cards. The woman is GSS refused, presumably because of a family member, and Sylvia is already on her case. One of the young men has a work permit valid till February 2007, but his magnetic card has expired and he is not let through at Beitar Illit CP. Hanna B. says he has to start the process of obtaining a magnetic card all over, preferably with the help of his employer, but the chances are slim (becase of his age – 24). As for the other young man, aged 23, we tell him that his chances are almost nil. An older man is seeking a permit for himself and his brother who has just undergone heart surgery and has to come in tomorrow for a checkup. The brother is GSS defused and their request is denied. Hanna B. says it can be arranged but not on such short a notice. They have to fax us the necessary documents and postpone their appointment, for it takes a few days.Bethlehem CP: 17:00: A long line of workers on their way home to Bethlehem. Only one checking post is manned. After several minutes, another soldier girl slowly makes her way towards a second post, perhaps because they spotted us in their cameras or the long line, maybe it was the time… who knows.
