Bethlehem CP, Al Nashash, DCO Etzion, 29/11/06, Wed, AM observers: Y-driver, Drora P, Orah A, Rahel reporting6:45 am, Bethlehem CPCrowded with people and transits outside. Hardly a place for us to park. The CP opened at 5:20 am. There are four positions open for checking with very long lines waiting. When we ask that they open up more checking booths , another two are opened for about 15 minutes. Suddenly we hear a lot of yelling at the entrance, but we cannot see what the problem is. The noise abates. A man shows us that his permit does expire today, but he is not allowed in to claim the money his employer owes him today. A soldier explains to us that his employer has cancelled his request to employ him. Y, the representative of the DCL tried with much patience to explain the situation to him.7:45am Al Nashash:Three clients ask for help with police reports.8:20am DCL Etzion:No one is standing outside. Every one has already received a number and is in the waiting room. Two people approach us for help.9:25 am Bethlehem CP:We return to the CP to meet a woman from Bethlehem we spoke to last week, and needed help from PHR. The CP was empty of people coming to work. We encountered a group of school children entering to visit a school in Jerusalem. Their teacher said he has always received a permit to enter Jerusalem since three schools work together. Now he must ask specifically each time for permission because his salary is being paid in Bethlehem.
