Bethlehem, DCL Ezyon
Bethlehem, DCL Ezyon, Thursday 30.8.07, PMObservers: Liat D, Dafna S (reporting) 15:15- Rachel Terminal (Bethlehem CP:A long line of tourist buses, the inspection took time and we decided to head on to the DCL. There were few pedestrians. 15:45 Eztion DCLThe hall was closed but there were some people waiting outside. They said they were waiting since the morning for the GSS. They were refused passage. Their IDs have been taken from them and weren’t given back. They said that the GSS always takes their IDs, hands them back after a few hours and tells them to come back on another day. We tried making some phone calls, as Yael advised us to do, but there was no response. A doctor from Bethlehm, that was to begin his training in Haddassa Hospital in Jerusalem on Sunday, was waiting for the last permit. He had all the necessary documents and organization between the PA and Israel had been arranged. Only this one paper from the DCL was still missing. The doctor got his permit… but was told to come back on Tuesday for the final permit. We tried calling Dalya and Yael, but nothing helped. We suggested that we let Haddassa Hospital administration know about his delay and perhaps they could even help…. It was very frustrating… We came back to Bethlehem Checkpoint:Everyone passed quickly and there were no delays.
