DCO Etzion: Are we helping or just trying to help?
Two women who had to go to the hospital came with a man who was very surprised to hear that the DCO had not been open since the beginning of the war. One of them had an appointment for the next day. We advised her to make an appointment for another day immediately, and if there were problems she should contact Sylvia, who helps with her team overcome the bureaucracy of the occupation. We also suggested that she find out at the hospital if they could help her with the appointment in any way. We asked her to let us know if the hospital had indeed helped with anything, very little chance.
We heard a story about a man who was arrested at the beginning of the war, 7 October 2023, and held in administrative detention until now. During the arrest, he lost 65 kilos of his original weight (135 Kilos) and his hand was broken. The next day he was called by the Secret Service.
Although we have very little to report, at least the Palestinians see that there are Israelis who care and the little help we give them is worth the effort. Or we’re just trying to comfort ourselves with the idea that we’re doing something.
