Deir Sharaf, Mon 25.5.09, Morning

Observers: Nina S., Roni S. (reporting); Translation: Judith Green
May-25-2009
| Morning

7:15  No inspections at all and traffic is flowing with no delays.  This is the hour for changing shifts, but this does not cause any problems.  At the moment, there are not any dog trainers, though it seems as though one might arrive later on.

The DCO jeep stops near us and Abu Rocan stops to chat. Mainly, he wants to know our opinion about the current situation etc. He says that it is quiet in Nablus and therefore there is no logic in leaving the Huwwara checkpoint in place, it will be removed soon. We report to him about the situation in Irtah, he says that "he doesn't know anything about it."

7:50  We leave.

  • Deir Sharaf checkpoint

    • Deir Sharaf checkpoint is located west of Nablus and south of the settlement of Shavei Shomron, at the entrance to the village of Deir Sharaf on the road leading to Nablus. The checkpoint was activated in early March 2009 after the Beit Iba checkpoint was closed. Palestinians are allowed through the checkpoint , but not for Israelis. Unlike the checkpoints leading to Qalqilya and Tulkarm, crossing of Israeli Palestinians is only allowed on Saturdays.
