Ha-haviot checkpoint, Deir
Sharef
For some reason all the roads
are deserted today.
A stream of stinking
refuse flows at the side of the road. On the concrete blocks is
written the phone number of the DCO – an interesting innovation.
The path from the road in the direction of Shave Shomron continues –
whether towards the settlement or
whether to the army base, is unclear.
Two manned positions, on
both sides of the road, but traffic moves without pause.
15.15 The pink house once
known as ‘Shevut Ami’ is deserted. But on the other side of
the road, on the hill, there is a large tent with young people wandering
around it.

Deir Sharaf checkpoint is located west of Nablus and south of the settlement of Shavei Shomron, at the entrance to the village of Deir Sharaf on the road leading to Nablus. The checkpoint was activated in early March 2009 after the Beit Iba checkpoint was closed. Palestinians are allowed through the checkpoint , but not for Israelis. Unlike the checkpoints leading to Qalqilya and Tulkarm, crossing of Israeli Palestinians is only allowed on Saturdays.
