11:30  Deir Sharaf.  There’s no DCO representative.  The checkpoint is almost empty.  A car belonging to an Italian NGO wants to go through.  The checkpoint commander refuses, but changes his mind after a few minutes and agrees.  “OK, you can go.”  Just like that, as if he hadn’t said no a minute ago.

Despite the promise that the DCO representative’s phone number would be posed at the checkpoint, like at Huwwara, in order to make it easier for people to contact him, there’s still no sign.

    • Deir Sharaf checkpoint is located west of Nablus and south of the settlement of Shavei Shomron, at the entrance to the village of Deir Sharaf on the road leading to Nablus. The checkpoint was activated in early March 2009 after the Beit Iba checkpoint was closed. Palestinians are allowed through the checkpoint , but not for Israelis. Unlike the checkpoints leading to Qalqilya and Tulkarm, crossing of Israeli Palestinians is only allowed on Saturdays.
