7:50 Passage is fairly smooth. A steady stream in the direction of Nablus. In the direction of Tulkarm the soldiers frequently stop a car at the side for checking. Sometimes just a short conversation, other times a check against the computer, or opening doors and the trunk.  When one car is released, after a short while another car coming out of Nablus is stopped and checked.


7:55 The road is narrow and cars have to go on to the shoulders.  This causes a lot of dust and the soldiers are all the time in a cloud of dust.

    • Deir Sharaf checkpoint is located west of Nablus and south of the settlement of Shavei Shomron, at the entrance to the village of Deir Sharaf on the road leading to Nablus. The checkpoint was activated in early March 2009 after the Beit Iba checkpoint was closed. Palestinians are allowed through the checkpoint , but not for Israelis. Unlike the checkpoints leading to Qalqilya and Tulkarm, crossing of Israeli Palestinians is only allowed on Saturdays.
