Deir Sharaf, Wed 13.5.09, Afternoon
On the way to Deir Sharaf we passed the fence and barbed wire which decorates Azzun and the entry to the road is open. In the last few days we have tried to find out what the road being built from Azzun is. Where to? It is not clear to our friends. From the village one cannot check out these facts.
On the way we did not meet up with checkpoints, we do not know whom the additional conquered road on the way to Shave Shomron, which is being worked on, is meant to serve.
At the checkpoint to Nablus are two bored soldiers who allowed residents of the occupied territories through. We are not allowed through. There are laws.
At the exit of the city is a bored dog trainer chatting with the DCO representative and another soldier. The smell from the polluted water pours through is unbearable. Truly the DCO reoresentative did tell us that they had asked for this to be dealt with but nothing has been done. This is also part of his duties.

See all reports for this place-
Deir Sharaf checkpoint is located west of Nablus and south of the settlement of Shavei Shomron, at the entrance to the village of Deir Sharaf on the road leading to Nablus. The checkpoint was activated in early March 2009 after the Beit Iba checkpoint was closed. Palestinians are allowed through the checkpoint , but not for Israelis. Unlike the checkpoints leading to Qalqilya and Tulkarm, crossing of Israeli Palestinians is only allowed on Saturdays.
