At the Meitar checkpoint, a few people, perhaps members of a family of prisoners. Route 60 is very quiet, except for a few trucks on the Israeli side, especially those carrying building bricks. At Al Fawwar, the new gas station has not yet opened, and there is still a military post by the pool and one bored soldier.

We visited our old friend ‘Ata Jaber and his family, who are harassed by the Civil Administration and by settlers from the area. Two months ago, his entire plot was destroyed by the Civil  Administration… plot of crops was scorched: for , olives,almonds, olives, cucumbers, fruit trees and more: 20 years of work that has fallen into the abyss. Today, the place is devoid of crops, only a few dry branches attest to what happened. The signs of despair  are clearly visible on the man’s face.

On the more positive side, the son Raja graduated from a mechanical technician course and already earns his living from his work and supports his parents. The youngest daughter enrolled at the university on the day of our visit.

But the family lives all the time in fear of new destruction because of one excuse or another.

On the way back there was no presence, either of people or cars.
