Bethlehem and vicinity, Monday 16.7,07, PMObservers: Yael R and Netta BP (reporting) 13:20- Ezyon DCL:Several people were waiting by the entrance to the police station and the GSS, they complained that they were, as usual, sent back and forth all the time, between the DCL to the police station. Three people were waiting for the release of their truck that was confiscated four days before, because they had thrown garbage from a construction site in a field. They said there was no sign to note that it was forbidden so they had no idea. They had been running around for four days between the different authorities and no one would tell them what they had to do to get their tuck back. We tried calling the police but had no luck. A young man complained that his ID was taken from him 6 times at the checkpoint, and each time that happened he had to pay 250 Shekels for a new one. He doesn’t know why they keep taking his ID. We tried helping him by calling the humanitarian center, but the soldiers over there couldn’t reach the soldier at Ma’ale Edomim checkpoint, which was the last place his Id was confiscated. A father and his 15 year old son, who plays the Ud, waited for a permit to enter Jerusalem so they could go to the American consulate. The son received an invitation to play in the USA and they needed a visa. They were taken into the DCL and after 10 minutes came out with a permit- Have a nice trip. The soldier at the counter allowed anyone who arrived (even without a number) to enter. Some came out pleased and others were disappointed. We left at 15:00 Rachel’s checkpoint Two counters were open, there wasn’t much pressure and until 16:00 only a few people were making their way back from work, we don’t know why.
