Falamiya North Checkpoint (914), Falamiya South Checkpoint (935), Jayyus south 1012
5.55 Falamiya North (914) There are already about 10 people waiting and keeping themselves warm near the fire they build in the shed right next to the gate
One or two tractors are also ready to pass, but they will have to wait for the workers who pass on foot.
6.00 The gate opens on time and five by five the workers pass the two security checks, one for the entrance license and the other for their I.D. Only one woman passes on foot, mostly they are allowed to sit in the carts drawn by the tractors.
Not all those who are going to the Israeli side of the security road are already waiting. Because of the change to summertime it is still dark and those who are usually eager to pass are now arriving only one by one. Also the old man on his donkey arrives, ties the animal to the gate, passes the first checking, crosses the security road to the second checking point ,walks all the way back, unties his donkey, climbs via one of the tractors onto his animal and only now is he ready to pass the gate.
6.20 The pedestrians -passage is closed and the large gate unlocked to let the tractors pass so not to let them wait for those coming on foot.
The soldiers wait patiently. Eventually about 80 workers pass the gate and 8 tractors; the gate closes at 6.40.
6.50.Falamiya South/ Jayyus North (935)
The soldiers are already there but open the gate according to their schedule at 7.00 Only about 30 workers and 6 tractors pass to the Israeli side. In time but already towards the end at 7.15 a car and a large truck arrive. We leave just before the gate is closed to be able to get in time to see if the gate Jayous S.opens. It is a longer and more difficult road for us than driving on the security road.
So when we arrive at Jayyus South (1012) at about 7.30 we can just see one donkey and his driver +cart disappearing behind the hill and another one in the process of passing. Probably not many more have passed the gate as our experience learned.
We return via Nabi Elias and road 55 to Israel-proper.
