06:00 Tyasir CP
The soldiers are indifferent and we stand in the center of the CP near the shed where pedestrians pass. There is a queue of vehicles on the side of the West Bank in the direction of the valley: minibuses, taxis, private cars. Passengers get out and line up opposite the shed. In basic Arabic, the soldier calls them in pairs, or all at once, telling them to raise their shirts and take off their shoes. Only the ID card is inspected, and there is no need for any special permit. The passage is quick without superfluous delays. The people go down to the end of the CP compound and wait for the vehicles. The drivers raise their shirts and turn around, the vehicles are inspected quickly and go on their way. Many dozens of men go through at this time of day. Only men. It seem that most of them are farmers. Most of them are happy to greet us with a 'good morning', to answer a question. There are no complaints about the passage. The soldiers estimate that maybe 100 or 200 people or more go through in the morning.

07:00 Hamra CP
A similar picture is seen at this CP. The soldiers do not interfere with us standing near the pedestrian shed. The pedestrians go through quickly. The vehicles are inspected relatively quickly and cross the CP to collect the passengers that have passed through the shed. Here men and women go through on their way to Jericho, to Jerusalem, to Jordan, and also to farm work in the fruitful area of the Jiftlik.
At the vegetable stands on the side of the road, most of the vegetables cost five shekels per kilogram.

The view is extraordinarily beautiful.

Read about the peple of the Jordan Valley and the quiet transfer happening there.

    • Located on road 5799, It is one of the checkpoints control the passage between the northern West Bank and the Jordan Valley. For a long time, it stood empty and open, with only a sign next to it warning against entering Area A. It was adjacent to an old military camp - now everything is neglected. How much money was invested here, and how much brainwashing was done to the soldiers of Netzah Yehuda and Kfir.

Today, it is very difficult to pass there. Many delays. Often, teachers from Tubas are not allowed to pass into the Valley to villages like Ein al-Bida where the local schools are located, and there are no classes. There are additional days when the checkpoint is closed. In general, there is a wait there of about two to four hours to go towards the Valley and also to return. Many times the Palestinians are forced to use the Hamra checkpoint, which also leads into Tubas and the West Bank, but there is also a huge queue there and a long wait.

Following a deadly attack on soldiers at the nearby base in February 2025, the checkpoint was completely closed for the time being. (Updated March 2025)
