Two fathers are waiting for the GSS (under a newly constructed roof, like a bus station). One has been ordered with his son back and forth from Hebron DCO to this one, and maintains that so far they have been waiting for about 6 hours. The other lives with his daughter in Jerusalem, while his son in law, a pharmacist, resides in Bethlehem. Lately, the daughter was involved in a car accident, but still, her husband cannot visit her. He is GSS denied. The father has a bundle of documents he wants to present to the GSS and has been told to wait for an interview. He says he’s been here for 3 hours now but does not loose faith. There is some good news too – the tiles in the toilets have been replaced! Bethlehem CP: 17:00: No queues.

According to Wye Plantation Accords (1997), Hebron is divided in two: H1 is under Palestinian Authority control, H2 is under Israeli control. In Hebron there are 170,000 Palestinian citizens, 60,000 of them in H2. Between the two areas are permanent checkpoints, manned at all hours, preventing Palestinian movement between them and controlling passage of permit holders such as teachers and schoolchildren. Some 800 Jews live in Avraham Avinu Quarter and Tel Rumeida, on Givat HaAvot and in the wholesale market.
